Veteran Memorial

We are very excited to share this memorial with you!

The Kanabec Veteran Memorial building and grounds are; a place for the community to learn the true stories of our local heroes and a place to honor those who served and sacrificed so much for us.

The project became a reality through a partnership of the Lee Goldsmith American Legion Post No. 201 and Ogilvie American Legion Post 640. With generous donations of money, time, materials, labor, and the outstanding support of our community members the Kanabec County Veterans Memorial became a reality. Hundreds attended the dedication on September 8, 2024 proud to show support for our veterans.

What to Expect

From the distance you are greeted by the US Flag which flies 55' in the air.  The flag will draw you into the Kanabec County Memorial site and the outdoor flag plaza.  Granite honor walls display Kanabec County area veterans - both living and deceased. A centerpiece memorial wall displays the names of local veterans killed in WWI, WWII, the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Also on site and in close proximity to the flag plaza is the Kanabec Veteran Memorial building.  This building is a gathering place for veteran service organizations such as the American Legion, VFW, DAV and AMVETS.  The building is also the home of military items from local veterans who have served, telling their stories and sharing them with the community.

The Kanabec Veteran Memorial is a registered 501c3 and is 100% funded by donations.
